Salem, Oregon-based Paul Kerley owns and serves as president of Commercial Property Resources, Inc. The 37-year-old firm manages a portfolio consisting of some 1,800 residential rental units in the state, including single-family homes, triplexes, condominiums, and multi-family complexes. Paul Kerley’s focus on acquiring and managing Class B and Class C properties, in particular, provides opportunities for cost-effective investment while expanding the pool of desirable, affordable units available to front-line workers in blue-collar jobs and their families.
Commercial Property Resources recently purchased two multi-family properties, River Road Apartments and River Creek Apartments, in the city of Keizer, part of the greater Salem area. The total purchase price for the two acquisitions topped $2 million.
Salem is home to Chemeketa Community College, Willamette University, and the Salem Health network of hospitals and neighborhood clinics. Approximately 25 percent of the city’s workforce is employed in the education or healthcare sectors.
Additionally, Salem’s status as Oregon’s capital means that numerous residents of the area are employed in government. Manufacturing and retail also account for large percentages of current jobs.
One recent estimate put Salem’s job growth over the next decade at more than 40 percent, while listing the national average as 33.5 percent.
