Keizer’s unique characteristics have distinguished it from its larger counterpart of Salem, especially in the range of activities accessible to residents and visitors. The city is named after Keizer’s first inhabitants - two immigrant brothers.
Keizer offers several outdoor activities, including an iris festival in May. In addition to this event, visitors and residents can go biking on the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway, including the Albany to Keizer section, which is 25 miles. Then, the Keizer Rapids Park Willamette Water Trail provides kayakers with routes that run from 3 to 7 miles.
Finally, the city offers an 18-hole disc golf course for Frisbee enthusiasts. Keizer also has areas for hikers, including bridges, castles, and log cabins.
